Business principal James Keady is the third generation Keady to run the family business taking over the reins of running the business from his father, Jim, in 1998.
The Keady name has been known as a family business in the Cowra and surrounding areas since 1912 when the Keady family entered the stock and station business in Coonamble.

James P Keady & Co a local family business has a history of around 110 years in supporting and being a integral part of the local community.
Two young farmers from Victoria, Timothy and Patrick Keady bought the property “ Geanmony “ at Coonamble in 1910. To fund their business idea the brothers sold the property to their parents in 1912 when they set up Keady Brothers Agency in the town.

The partnership was dissolved in 1940 and Timothy ran the business as TL Keady until 1945, when his son Jim Keady entered the business, so the business was then renamed TL Keady and Son.
Jim’s father Timothy died in 1950 and in 1964 Jim moved the stock and station agency to Boorowa where he also purchased the property “ Kenyu “
Jim who was just 17 when he began to work as a stock and station agent, was the youngest auctioneer to hold a license at that time.
His doctor advised Jim to take it easy on the farm and try and wean himself off being a stock and station agent but his desire to keep the business going resulted in a further expansion when in 1978 he opened an office in Cowra with is son Jamie, and renamed the business as James P Keady and Co.

James Keady has held his Stock & Station Agents & Real Estate License since 1974.
In 1988 Jim and Jamie were also joined by Jim’s daughter and Jamie’s sister Denise.
When asked what the secret to the success of James P Keady and Co agency both James and Jim had always given the same response ‘ honesty and integrity ‘.
The Keady firm has been since approached by every existing franchise company in Cowra to represent their respective companies, only to be disappointed with a definite no.
Our motto since 1978 has been “We are not a franchise company – we are a family Company” with family values and integrity and “where a hand shake will always seal the deal”.
James has lived all his life on a rural farm which gives him the edge over many other rural salespersons when communicating with rural clients.
Specializing mainly in rural and commercial property sales, James prides himself with a sound knowledge of these industries.
